BAJA 1000

guys, in the near future my shop is teaming up with a group of gentlemen to build a full scale trophy truck for the purpose of competing in the SCORE baja 1000 desert race. This is set to be a 1 to 2 year project, look for new posts as the project becomes a reality.

the design phase is complete.
the body will resemble a 1/2 ton cheverolet pickup

the substructure will be 2 inch ASTM 1426 DOM tubing with 3 x 3 triangular gussets at each intersection. we chose DOM tubing over chromoly because it is less expensive and does not require TIG welding.

the suspension will be 4- link in the rear with A-arms in the front. The front will have 28" of suspension travel and 34" in the rear. The spring and shock system will be of a brand new design not to be disclosed until race day.

the powertrain will be a 383 c.i.d cheverolet smallblock with a modified THM 400 transmission. It will be a 2WD system with a front engine-rear wheel drive orientation. the small block design was chosen over the newer LS series because the small block is a proven run all day design and parts for them are readily available at any parts store.

pictures will be posted as they become available.
